The nutrition class was very informative, and I will be working hard to incorporate in my new routine all the tips Joe gave us. My assistant is always eating slim-fast bars and when I came to work this morning and showed her the label she could not believe the bad stuff in it, so not only am I getting help for myself, but it's nice to pass on what you have learned to others too.

I had a good workout today. The focus was my upper body and cardio. I really felt the abs work as my core is very weak. I know this is something I have to work on. I also had my blood pressure checked this morning and it was significantly lower with just a few workouts! This gave me much relief as it had been getting higher each week. I also have more energy, all good stuff! I'm ready for more!

My first day has gone really well. I am eating healthy and drinking lots of water. I snacked on my favorite power snack (almonds) and I had a good day at work. I am very excited and quite honored that I was chosen as one of 175 people! I feel very lucky and I can't wait for my workout, as well as the nutrition class later this evening.

I had a great workout today, lots of abs work, I really feel it right now, but that's a good thing. I've met alot of nice people here and we all have one commonality, we want to be healthy for our loved ones, but most important for ourselves. A college Professor once told me "Olga, always remember NO PAIN - NO GAIN, I have never forgotten this because it is so true. As we begin the painstaking task of working to lose the weight we all know we did not gain over night, we should all remember that we have taken the most important first step. It is always the hardest. Good luck to us all!

4/4 - WOW! My workout today was tough. I worked on my legs and core with the ball. I'm not sure if it's because I've worked all week or what, but today was tough. It's nice though to sweat with a good workout then go home and take a nice hot bath! Nothing like it! I have so much more energy too, I'm loving that!

4/5 Today I took Becky's Pilates Class as well as 30 minutes of spinning it was quite a workout. I thoroughly enjoyed the Pilates class. It was a tough workout, but I know so necessary. My legs are sore right now, but they will survive! Enjoy this day everyone, it is gorgeous out!

4/6 Today I worked out with Christy and it was a very good workout. Christy challenges me and I work harder. Even though I was sore yesterday, I really wanted to work hard today. I am eating healthy, but I'm still struggling with the 6 small meals a day. It's alot of food, but I know I need that to keep going and I certainly do not want to binge at the end of the day! I'm working on it though. Could we have a more perfect day?

4/7 Hey Christy thank you for quite a workout. The leg transfers challenged us for sure. Also, when you really push us to challenge ourselves, all the sweat is so worth it. I have been pleasantly sore, but not an extreme hurt, you guys seem to know just the right balance. Thanks again and Have a nice day!

I'm so glad I was able to go to tonight's nutrition seminar. To be truthful, I was struggling a bit with the bags I've now left behind. It was like Joe was talking to me, but to be truthful again, I'm sure he touched many of us tonight. I feel very Blessed to be a part of Life Stage.

4/8 My reflections for today. Nothing just happens. We are all at Life Stage at this very place in time for a reason and not by accident. Whatever we make of this opportunity is up to us. I have found in my life that everything happens for a higher purpose. Sara I read your blog regarding the support you are getting from your family and friends. That is truly a blessing. I don't have any family here at all. I am however, blessed with wonderful friends, and even though, I miss my family and the support that brings, I am grateful to God that I have learned and grown so much because I've had to. It's amazing the willpower and courage you get when you have no one else to turn to but yourself! This opportunity could not have come for me at a better time. I know that once
again, God was watching out for me.

4/8 Wanted to share with all of you that what Joe said about people wanting what you have is correct. Whatever that "have" may be. I was in line at the Grocery store having put on the counter to pay for my wheat tortillas, skim milk, tomatoes, fresh asparagus, fresh green beans, brussel sprouts, apples, pears, lowfat mozzarella cheese, organic peanut butter; when the lady who was paying in front of me looked at my food and she said "After looking at your food and looking at what I'm buying, I feel very guilty now, here I'm buying my family ice cream, ding-dongs, chips, kool-aid drinks and to make it worse a peach pie, you have just stopped me in my tracks, I don't want to by this stuff now". Joe was right.

4/9 Thanks Jeff for a great workout! You push me to work hard and I appreciate that so much, I know that I will reap the benefits. Also, not to be forgotten, Connie you inspire me, you are very dedicated and I admire your tenacious spirit. I see you workout hard and I think to myself that will be me, I need to strive for that. Hope you had a Great Birthday!

4/10 Thanks Mike for the great workout, the cardio as well as all my leg work really gave me a sweat. Mt. Kilamajoro was the icing on Mike's workout for me. I felt it! I was impressed at how Mike knew exactly when I would really be feeling the burn, there is no fooling him, not that I would try :). By the way everyone I wanted to tell you I bought some really good protein/energy bars and Joe read all the labels and said they were all good. Try the Bumble Bar, Raw organic food bar and Kid's Keerunch bar, even though this bar says kid's it doesn't matter, we are all young at heart anyway right, and they are very good, it's like eating a brownie, but with all the good stuff in it.

4/17 What a beautiful day! I am so honored, but most of all humbled that I made it to the next round. I look forward everyday to going to Lifestage. A place where you matter and are treated with respect. At Lifestage we all help each other out. Thanks Pat for teaching me how to do the leg transfers correctly, as well as the rope walk (I just made that name up!), but you know what I mean. Have a Great day everyone!

4/17 I had a sad experience today, that I want to share with all of you. I ran into an aquaintance of mine that I had not seen in about a year. A year ago he was a vibrant, happy, healthy, full of promise individual who had just gotten married. He is 41 and has lukemia. He has withered to a thin frame and is currently undergoing much treatment. This young promising attorney is now in the fight of his life. Oh, how fragile life really is. How many days do we take for granted? Each day is actually a gift, giving all of us one more chance to get it right. If we didn't get it right today, let's strive to get it right tomorrow.

4/22 I can't recall where I
read this, but I wanted to share it with you: Today in advanced countries, we eat to be social. We eat to escape reality. We eat because we are bored, or because we have a craving. Or just because. We could learn alot from third world countries. We could learn alot from our ancient ancestors. They eat for nourishment - they eat to live. If we could revert to a simpler time when we viewed food as fuel, energy, and life we could eradicate most diseases. Eating is one of life's greatest pleasures, but living is just a tad better.

4/24 Thanks Joe for two great seminars yesterday and today. You know you are doing what you are meant to be doing when you impact so many people. For myself I have to publicly say thank you to you for giving me back my life. I have always been one to help everyone with problems, I am the one everyone comes to for help and I have always found a way to assist them, but I was forgetting to take care of the most important person.....me. I had lost myself totally. I knew the person was there, but I just couldn't quite get her out again, at least not until Lifestage. I am so much happier and looking forward to what life has for me, and for Lifestage to have gotten me out of my self-induced depression over my weight issues, has got to be one of the highlights of my life. Sometimes we don't share what we really are going through, because that would force us to be vulnerable and exposed, but I have to say if Lifestage was able to do this for me, how many more people are out there who really need this help. It's funny how God has always put people in my path who help me get to the next level of "Life" whatever that level is suppose to be. I know that for me at least, Lifestage came at the utmost needed time in my life. To have saved someone from incredible darkness, now I'm talking emotionally as well as physically, has to a God sent. Thank you so much to you Joe and all your wonderful staff that understand what respect, pride and integrity mean to us. May God richly bless you and your staff and may you continue to impact so many lives on a daily basis.

Yesterday was a great day, my eating is right on target and I'm working hard at the gym. I can't wait to workout later and have another great workout. Everyone has been so encouraging and people say I look like I have lost weight, but mostly how much happier I am. Lets face it carrying around so much extra weight does not make a person happy. I think people who know me have seen the change in my behavior and want to know what I am doing. Several have said they will be inquiring for membership at Lifestage, that's because they see a difference in me. That's exciting. Have a great day everyone.

Lifestage has given me my life back as I once knew it, happy, healthy and exceedingly blessed. To those of you that did not make the final eight you all worked so very hard and must continue your journey, you've worked too hard to not continue. I will miss those of you who I got to know in this short time, but my guess is that I will still see you at Lifestage, you should all be very proud of yourselves. Always remember no matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up. Good luck to everyone. Thank you God for this awesome opportunity.

I have to say though that with all the things I have going on in my life, I have effectively managed to still relieve stress by way of my workouts at Lifestage. I should be proud of myself for that, but I have alot of people I'm responsible for and sometimes, I feel like I'm short changing them; that's the caretaker in me coming through. 6/8 Thought for the day: Listen to what children have to say-their windows to the soul are unclouded. Have a Great day everyone. Hope everyone was okay yesterday with this weather. We had our Annual Greekfest, when the tornado warning came and since our church has no basement everyone had to crowd in the hallway. The kids inflatable jumpies all had to come down and our grilling (which we do outside) had to stop with lots of people in line waiting for their food! Then the Greekdancers show up and just about that time the electricity went out and did not come back on. We worked through that, but we had lots of raw food left over and with no electricity that was a problem. Everyone pitched in so nicely though and the magic of teamwork helped to salvage the day anyway. Today will be even more hot & humid than yesterday so we will definitely do something around water! Stay cool!

6/16 My thoughts for today: What a Great day; today is definately a pivotal day for me. It's funny how people with no values or who lack self-esteem and self-respect, try to make others miserable by trying to knock them down by their actions, attempting to feed a need for their lack of self-esteem they don't have, the old adage Misery loves company is so true. I am so thankful that one of the best things my parents taught me is integrity and love, and if you have those two things you have already won. I am so very lucky that I have so much love in my life, wheather it be in me, surrounding me, given to me, accepted from me and always reciprocated through the many great friends & family that I have. I have also made some lasting friendships at Lifestage and I consider myself so very lucky for that too! I have met some of the nicest people there! Today I would ponder the word, Integrity. There you go those are my thoughts for today.

6/18 Thought for the day: A wise man often said that time could be better spent looking inward than outward. When asked what he meant, he told this story. "A glass cleaner erected scaffolding, and proceeded to climb toward the few windows that were out of reach. When he arrived, he took his sponge, soaked the glass and ran his squeegee, but the glass didn't get clean. After just a few attempts he realized that the dirt was on the inside." The wise man then added, "So it is with each of us, which is why we must turn our attention inward." Have a Great day everyone, it's a beautiful one!

6/19 Thought for the day: Emotional storms happen to you they do not belong to you. Hi guys, I totally agree with Joe's e-mail regarding recovery of your body. I figured out early on that when I was totally exhausted or I wasn't even hungry; I mean at all, that it was really my body saying: Could you please stop, rest and just relax. That's why sometimes my workouts are only 45 minutes, because I do not want to over stress my body. I found the right combination at least that works for me. We're not all the same though, and some can workout hard everyday for 2 hours and not be affected, but my body does require a recovery period. That also helps with your mental well-being because if your body is happy of course your mind is happy too. Who wants to feel drained! It is such a great day out there, I love it when the humidity is low, it spares me big hair! Have a Great day everyone and I'll see you later at the gym.

6/26 Hey Chris, you were right, Kung-Fu Panda is a really cute movie. Stephanie and her friend loved it! Yesterday, we went fishing behind the pond by our house, and I just got a kick out of Stephanie and her friend, they cast the pole then wait 10, maybe 15 seconds and are wondering why they can't catch a fish! I explained to them that fishing is a sport of patience and that if they just leave the pole in longer than 15 seconds they will catch a fish. We have caught big fish in that pond before, it's hysterical though to watch kid's fishing strategies! Well that's all for now, have a Great day everyone.

7/6 Hello Everyone: I had a great day with Stephanie today. This day was for her. Took her to the Taste of Chicago to see Aly & AJ, Keke Palmer and Cursive Memory. As luck would have it we got tickets and sat in the first row in the front in the middle! We took some great pictures and had such a good time. My ears are still ringing from all the girls screaming! In line by us were 3 girls, I'd say about in 7th grade who had come to see Aly & AJ from Moline and I could tell they were missing their parents. They came with the older sister & boyfriend of one of the girls, but they went to eat and left them in line by themselves. They seemed lost (good girls from a small town) so I basically took care of them. Told them where to go, where not to go and they just were so appreciative, they started calling me their Taste of Chicago Mom, they also were able to get seats right in the front rows. They asked me if they could take a picture with me to show their parents that they felt safe after I took care of them and that they were happy to know there are still nice, caring people, out of a sea of rude people. I did my good deed for today. My exercise today was plenty of walking! Hope everyone had a good week-end, good-night everyone!

Lisa was feeling much better, you couldn't even tell she had been sick because she sure did kick our butts! It will be nice to have Dan & Jackie from the biggest loser as part of our gym. Welcome, to Dan & Jackie to a place where you sweat like crazy, laugh like crazy and most of all lose like crazy! Good night everyone that's all for now.

7/9 I was told yesterday by several people that they miss my thoughts for the day and that they look forward to reading them so here you go. Thought for the day: "No man will make a great leader who wants to do it all himself, or to get all the credit for doing it" Have a Great day everyone!

7/11 Thought for the day: "Never speak when you are angry. If you do you'll make the best speech you'll ever regret." Had a great day yesterday, took spinning with Amanda and the bootcamp prior to that. I was still sore though from playing lots of basketball with Stephanie the day before. Today, I have lots of energy and I'm looking forward to working out later. Have a Great day everyone.

7/12 Thought for the day:
Don't burn your bridges. You'll be suprised how many times you have to cross the same river. Today I did the morning spin class which turned out to be the Morning endurance spin class for legs only! It was a tough class. Greg put down the handle bars really low and 90% of the class was no arms, all legs. Great work-out though for the legs and cardio; we were drenched. Enjoy the rest of the day everyone!

7/13 Sunday Honored God (his day), did 1/2 of Joe's spin class (got there late) and worked on cardio as well. I had tons of energy today. I also had a great time at my friends reception. I look forward to this week as well to keep moving forward on my journey. I came home and I made an awesome Chicken soup with fresh Farmers Market vegetables, I really enjoyed eating it, I haven't made that in a long time. Good night everyone, I'm getting ready to hear Stephanie read.

7/17 It is a sad day today for all of us as we found out that Sandy's Dad passed away. My workout today seems insignificant. What comes to mind is that each day is to be cherished, because tomorrow is promised to no one. Embrace everyday and know that our lives belong to our creator. No one is exempt from this fact. I will leave a sympathy card in the CYLC pocket at the gym. Please sign it and I will make sure Sandy gets it. Good night everyone.

7/18 I wanted to let everyone know that Todd's class on Wednesday, was a tough workout, very affective. If any of you have 'spun' with Todd before you know how hard he works! Well, needless to say that is the way he taught his class on Wednesday. It was funny, someone who took his class on Wednesday came up to me later and said "I don't recall anything lower than a 7 in Todd's class do you? He worked us! AND it was GREAT! Good job Todd.

7/19 Today is my day off. I had a great day with the girls (Stephanie & her friend who is spending the week-end with us). We went bowling & spent the afternoon swimming after the weather broke. Tonight Movie and lots of popcorn! I already warned them that they can giggle all night long and not fall asleep, but I will be waking them up early for Church, and I won't hear the moans & groans. Good night everyone that's all for today.

Olga, I was reading my emails. A story about red marbles. I'd send it but I don't know your email address. Well anyway it ended like this.

"Its not what you gather but what you scatter - that tells what kind of life you've lived".

Have a good one everyone and remember to be nice to people, most of them will be nice to you.
